The installation of the new provincial and the council took place on 1st June at the Divine Word residence, Riverside. It was a simple but meaningful celebration with only the community members due to Covid-19 restrictions. The installation Mass was presided at the beginning by Soney Sebastian the outgoing provincial. He welcomed the community and the council members. It surely is very strange he said when we should have the whole province present. However, we are with everyone in spirit and every member of the province assures their cooperation, prayers and blessings to the new provincial and the team.
After the readings and the Gospel, Soney read the appointment letters of the council members and the provincial. He handed a copy of the constitution of the Society, the Handbook for Superiors and the key to the province office to Jon Kirby the new provincial. Jon took over to be the main celebrant from that moment. During the homily that followed, he used an African story demonstrated by two of the members to bring home the message of working together and helping one another.
Social and a wonderful dinner followed the installation Mass. We congratulate the new provincial and the team assuring our prayers and cooperation.
