The XIX USW Province Chapter and Assembly was held on Wednesday, 28 February at Riverside residence. The Chapter and the Assembly began with Bible enthronement. During the Bible veneration the Provincial declared the Chapter formally open. Later on he explained the modalities and procedures for the day. The provincial in his presentation shared about the present status and the activities of the province. He also presented the plans for the province as we implement the pastoral profile. He shared that the pastoral profile is a very comprehensive action oriented program. The four dimensions of the Society have been incorporated into the pastoral profile. He also stated that our wealth is in our members and our community life is our life blood. Therefore we need to foster it in our districts and communities.
Pavol Sochulak, the provincial treasurer presented the financial position of the province by presenting the latest audit report and the financial statements. We have had an encouraging year financially as the investments did well in the past year. We support one another as a province community, when everything we earn is pooled together and is shared with everyone even those who do not have a means of salary. He also presented the financial statements of Riverside community, Ministerio Biblico Verbo Divino, Wordnet Productions and Vietnamese Charitable Association.
The rest of the day was spent on discussing the suggested resolutions and recommendations that surfaced from the recent provincial visitation protocol. A few resolutions and recommendations have been voted and proposed by the chapter. We shall publish them after they have been approved by the Generalate. At the end of the discussion the Chapter elected Jon Kirby as our delegate and Peter Zhai as the alternate to the upcoming 18th General Chapter. The chapter was concluded with Mass presided by the provincial followed by a wonderful social and dinner.
I would like to thank all the delegates, alternates and others who participated wholeheartedly in this important event of the province. Thanks to those who were not able to be present in person but supported and was present through your prayers. Special thanks to the Jon Duy and Arul
